Please note that this explanation uses a leather couch as an example, but it applies to all leather products such as bags, wallets, jackets, pants, etc. Very much like your own skin, you must keep your leather moisturised with the correct minerals required along with UV protecting agents in the conditioner to prevent future damage. Cracking can be 1 of 2 reasons.
The first reason:
This is the most common cause of cracked leather. You will notice on your leather couch on the side you most often sit on that the armrest is starting to turn black. This is because your hand is always on that armrest. The Acidity of your body known as PH along with dirt goes and sits in the pores turning the leather black and slowly eroding the leather over time causing it to eventually start cracking. There is no real way of fixing this cracked leather. The only thing you can really do is to wash your leather using a bucket of warm water and a sponge or cloth and try to remove as much of the dirt and grease as possible. You could also use a bit of sunlight soap mixed in the water. Yes, you may use sunlight soap as it will help to remove the oily, greasy, sweaty, blackness from your leather and after the leather has dried properly you apply a bit of Leather Goodness to restore the lost minerals that the soap and water have taken out. This will only prevent your leather from eroding any further and remove some of the unwanted blackness. These hardening pastes you buy is not solving the problem. It only covers it up for a few months. The only way to fix it 100% is to replace the panel which we also do with proper leather.
The other reason:
Leather will start to crack is because it is extremely dry. This is a remarkably simple fix. Just purchase some of our amazing Leather Goodness cream and apply. It will immediately restore the look and feel of your couch and ensure it stays moisturized for months after applying it. Please note that the cream will not fix the cracks that are already in the leather. It will only moisturize it preventing any further damage that dryness may cause to your couch. As mentioned in example one covering up the cracks with a hardening paste will only work for a few months until the leather has eroded all the way through. Once again, a proper fix is to replace the panel but, in the meantime, apply our Leather Goodness cream as it is very cheap and will prevent further damage.
